Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations Amendments to Align with the Coming into Force of the Cannabis Act
Description of the objective
In preparation for the coming into force of the Cannabis Act, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is developing amendments to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations to:
- ensure that the existing transborder inadmissibility framework associated with immigration enforcement as it relates to cannabis-related offences is maintained; and
- ensure that CBSA retains its ability to assess the current detention factors related to foreign nationals or permanent residents who are linked to certain cannabis-related offences.
