Media update on the situation in the Port of Halifax, Nova Scotia

Halifax, Nova Scotia, April 10, 2007 - A ship arrived earlier today in the Port of Halifax. The Canada Border Services Agency and its partners have begun the inspection process according to established operating procedures.

This process involves interviewing the captain and the crew as well as examining the vessel and the cargo destined for Canada. This work began shortly after the ship’s arrival in the Port and will be ongoing until the examination is completed.

A media advisory will be issued tomorrow that will provide details on a media briefing that will be held later in the day.
