Forms

  1. There are three forms to report importation or exportation of currency and monetary instruments. What are they?

    • Form E677
      Cross-Border Currency or Money Instruments Report - Individual, reports situations where the importer or exporter physically carries the currency or monetary instruments across the border.
    • Form E667
      Cross-Border Currency or Money Instruments Report - General, reports all other situations such as when mailing, shipping by courier, or transporting on someone else's behalf.
    • Form E668
      Cross-Border Currency or Money Instruments Report Made by Person in Charge of Conveyance, consolidates all currency and monetary instruments transported by the person in charge of a conveyance. The importer or exporter also has to complete Form E667.

  2. I am shipping or transporting currency or monetary instruments on behalf of my client. How do I complete Form E667?

    Your client is the importer or exporter. Enter your client's information in part A or part B, as applicable. Enter the information about the person who will ship or transport the currency or monetary instruments in part D.

  3. I am physically transporting currency or monetary instruments that belong to me. Do I have to complete a form?

    Yes. You have to complete Form E677 as follows:

    • Part A
      Enter your name, date of birth, permanent address, phone number, and citizenship as well as the type of identification you will use, its number, and where it was issued.
    • Part B
      Enter the names of the city and country the currency or monetary instruments depart from as well as the city and country where they are going (destination).
    • Part C
      Enter the information about the currency or monetary instruments you are importing or exporting. For currency and coins, indicate the type of currency (e.g., U.S. dollars or coins, euro banknotes or coins), the amount in that currency, the conversion rate, and the amount in Canadian dollars. For other monetary instruments, in the "Country and name of currency" box, indicate the type (e.g., traveller's cheques, bonds), the issuer (name of financial institution), and the serial or identifying number. Enter the amount in that currency, the exchange rate, and the amount in Canadian dollars.

  4. I am shipping or transporting currency or monetary instruments on behalf of an entity. Do I have to complete a form?

    Yes. You have to complete Form E667 as follows:

    • Part B
      Enter the information about the entity on whose behalf you are shipping or transporting the currency or monetary instruments.
    • Part C
      Enter the information about the importation or exportation.
    • Part D
      Enter the information about the person who will ship or transport the currency or monetary instruments.
    • Part E
      Enter the information about the currency or monetary instruments being imported or exported.

  5. I am shipping or transporting currency or monetary instruments on behalf of another person. Do I have to complete a form?

    Yes. You have to complete Form E667 as follows:

    • Part A
      Enter the information about the person on whose behalf you are transporting or shipping the currency or monetary instruments.
    • Part C
      Enter the information about the importation or exportation.
    • Part D
      Enter the information about the person who will ship or transport the currency or monetary instruments.
    • Part E
      Enter the information about the currency or monetary instruments being imported or exported.

  6. I am a courier that imports currency and monetary instruments regularly. Do I have to complete a form?

    Yes. You have to complete Form E668 as follows:

    • Part A
      Enter the information about the person in charge of the conveyance.
    • Part B
      Enter the name of the importer or exporter and total value for each shipment of currency or monetary instruments. Form E668 consolidates all the currency and monetary instruments that are transported.
