The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) wishes to advise you of additional details regarding the changes to the 2009 Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff which will be released as the upcoming T2009-5 Amendment Package.
This package will include:
- The annual changes to the rates of Customs Duty Payable on Woollen Fabrics originating in Commonwealth Countries;
- Pursuant to subsection 45(13) of the Customs Tariff, the “Order Amending the Schedule to the Customs Tariff (Conditions for Special Provisions for the Purposes of the United States Tariff (UST) which was approved on May 19, 2009;
- Bill C-2. An Act to implement the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the States of the European Free Trade Association (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland), the Agreement on Agriculture between Canada and the Republic of Iceland, the Agreement on Agriculture between Canada and the Kingdom of Norway and the Agreement on Agriculture between Canada and the Swiss Confederation
All of the above will be effective on July 1, 2009. Changes to the statistical suffixes have been included as required.
Pursuant to the CEFTA, new preferential tariff treatments are being introduced for Iceland (IT) – Code 22, Norway (NT) – Code 23 and Switzerland-Liechtenstein (SLT) – Code 24.
N.B.
- Please note that contrary to Tariff Notice TN-41-1, Bill C24, An Act to Implement the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and the Republic of Peru will not be included in this package
- The above-noted changes will be reflected in the Customs Commercial System (CCS) on July 1, 2009.
- The downloadable Microsoft Access and Chapters 01-99, single-file PDF versions of the Customs Tariff will be available on the CBSA Web site no later than June 30, 2009.
- The chapter by chapter PDF version of the Customs Tariff will be made available as soon as possible thereafter.
ERRATUM
Due to a technical problem, many of the “Issued” and “Effective” dates on the pages of the Chapters 01-99, single-file PDF version of the Customs Tariff are in error. Please be advised:
- All "Issued" dates should read June 24, 2009.
- All "Revised" dates should read July 1, 2009.
