Canadian citizens travelling by air to the United States must present one of the following valid documents:
This requirement applies to all travellers, regardless of age, including children.
It's important to note that there are no changes to the entry or re-entry requirements into Canada. While a NEXUS card may be used to board a plane departing the United States (based on a particular airlines' air carrier policy), the CBSA requires that all NEXUS program members seeking entry into Canada by air carry appropriate documentation, in addition to their NEXUS card.
Refer to the air travel requirements for more information.

Canadian citizens aged 15 years or under are only required to present proof of Canadian citizenship, such as an original or a photocopy of a birth certificate, or an original citizenship card, when entering the United States by land or water. Canadian citizens 18 years of age or under who are travelling with a school or other organized group, under adult supervision with parental/guardian consent, may also present proof of Canadian citizenship alone.
Refer to the document requirements for land or water modes for more information.
Canadians living in the United States
U.S. entry requirements have not changed for Canadian citizens who are U.S. lawful permanent residents (LPRs). U.S. LPRs may continue to present their permanent resident card (Form I-551) or other valid evidence of permanent residence status in the United States.
Non-Canadians living in Canada
U.S. entry requirements have not changed for non-Canadian citizens, including permanent residents residing in Canada. For more information on U.S. entry requirements, visit the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Web site.
